Award

2014 Solar Decathlon Europe – Orchid House

Project Overview

Built by Team UNICODE, a transdisciplinary group of NCTU architecture faculty and students, the project took Taiwan's common rooftop additions as its starting point, envisioning an energy house built atop old apartment buildings to give young people more living space while reducing commuting energy costs. Representing Taiwan, the team won first place in Urban Design, second place in Innovation, and third place in both Energy Efficiency and the People's Choice award.
