2018 Solar Decathlon Middle East – Creative Action Base

Project Overview

Taking on Dubai's extreme climate, the team built a physical structure in the desert combining sustainable energy efficiency, health and comfort, and smart living. Drawn from architecture, civil engineering, communications technology, electrical engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, and foreign-language studies, the team spent over two years in intensive transdisciplinary collaboration, working with more than twenty Taiwanese companies to complete the “Creative Action Base” (CAB) — a Taiwan-made smart green building using environmentally friendly materials, pre-assembled at Tung Ho Steel's Bade plant, demonstrating the results of problem- and project-based transdisciplinary learning.
