2021 Sustainable Urban Renewal — “One House” Infill Housing
Project Overview
Starting from the high barriers and often 20-year waiting periods of Taiwan's current urban renewal process, this project uses a micro-urban-renewal model, integrating innovative architectural and social design to accelerate the renewal process. “One House” serves as “seed housing” that fills vacant urban lots, using a repeatedly assemblable and disassemblable structural design to speed up construction and reduce pollution. It includes living units, a shared kitchen, laundry station, and charging station, open to and shared with the surrounding community — responding to the mental and physical health issues stemming from social isolation and improving neighborhood housing quality and urban well-being.
